I really love this skirt, but it makes me look very young. But I wore it anyway! I tried pairing it with a button-up shirt to look more grown-up, but it just doesn’t change the fact that I look like a ninth grader.
And then, for Narnia rehearsal, I changed out of the striped button up and put on my Harry Potter tee, so I looked even younger. Oh, well. I was comfy!

What is up with my hair? It’s all weird and frizzy and junk. Maybe it’s just still recovering from the hardcore dye process. Poor hair. Tomorrow I’ll put it up and condition the crap out of it.
This is my new favorite pair of shoes! I’ve been admiring the Blowfish Garrens on my favorite fashion blogger (Kaelah from Little Chief Honeybee) for ages, and finally snagged a pair on eBay for dirt cheap! They’re so incredibly comfortable. They actually meet my standard for comfort- they’re comfy enough to wear to a Disney park! (After being a cast member for four years, I learned a lot about wearing proper footwear while in Disney.)
I made this skirt last year for teacher clothes, and it’s one of my most-worn pieces that I’ve sewn! The print is very Anthropologie-esque (at least in my mind…) and the pattern is super easy to construct- I made it in about two hours, including the hem. So if you’re looking for a simple gathered skirt pattern, I highly recommend New Look 6872!
Speaking of sewing, I started working on costumes for the school production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I moved my sewing machine to my work desk and basically set up a sweatshop for myself. Mrs. Beaver’s apron is done and her dress is underway!

My students debated about whether I looked more like Minnie Mouse or Rachel Berry. At least they think it’s cute.
I didn’t wash my hair today. And I went out in public. THIS NEVER HAPPENS. I am a compulsive hair-washer. I keep reading things about how it’s bad for your hair, it strips it of natural oils, you need to use non-sulfate based shampoos…and I’ll go like half a day before being like “OH GOD I’M SO GROSS SOMEONE HAND ME THE HERBAL ESSENCES.” I only shampoo the top of my head and condition the rest, but still. I think this is the first time in my life that I’ve voluntarily left the house with my hair unwashed.
I did use dry shampoo, though. Which I’m still a little leery of. But it made me feel better, so okay!
Today was the first day that my adorable flock of actors ran through Act I of Narnia all the way through. It took nearly two hours, but for our first real run-through, it went really well! They’re all very inexperienced, but they all work really hard and I’m proud of them.
Also, this dress makes my boobs look way too big and there’s literally nothing I can do about that.

I just finished fall break, and oh my, it was glorious! It was an entire week of vegging out and being ridiculously, happily lazy. It was marvelous.
#1: I watched the entire third season of Toddlers and Tiaras on Netflix. P ran away every time it was on. And then my mother showed me this, and I died laughing.
#2: I made all sorts of delicious things- coconut curry chicken, white chicken and artichoke lasagna, peach cobbler. I haven’t enjoyed cooking in ages and it was fantastic.
#3: My friend Meg was in town from Pennsylvania and we got to spend a lot of time together! We basically just talked and talked and talked for hours. It was fantastic.
#4: I got my first coffee of the fall- salted caramel mocha! So good. Mmmm…
#5: My husband got me the first season of Pushing Daisies on DVD! I love that show so much, and he surprised me by hunting all over till he found it.
#6: I had quality cuddle time with my kitten! He was not nearly as amused as I was.
#7: I got pretty much all of the fabric I need for the Narnia costumes- and thankfully I don’t have to make too many, unlike the spring show!
#8: I ate all the food. ALL THE FOOD. I usually don’t have time to eat anything substantial during the school week, so it was awesome to stuff my face- especially when my husband kept surprising me with breakfast foods!
#9: I broke my self-imposed shopping ban to buy a red dress to wear on Thanksgiving and a brown purse. Which I needed. So it’s okay to break the ban, right? Right? Probably not, but oh well.
#10: I dyed my hair and it’s GLORIOUS. I feel like the Little Mermaid!
Now I just need to wait until Thanksgiving break. And by then Narnia will be over and my stress will be done! I can focus on fixing up the library, and it’ll be awesome.
So you can’t see a lot of details of my outfit because the sun is stupid and I am a terrible photographer, but who cares because Ariel hair!
My sister’s best friend is in beauty school, so she came over to cut and color our hair. I hadn’t dyed my hair since August (and it had turned out the wrong color anyway) and it hadn’t been cut since April, so it definitely needed a little love! I am so thrilled with the color, and my students kept exclaiming over how pretty it looks.
I love this dress, but it’s one of the perils of buying thrifted clothing online- it was listed as a large when it’s a small! So I have to leave it unbuttoned. But hey, still, cute, right? Right? Oh well.
Also my knee socks were a dollar at the end-of-winter sales at Claire’s, and they’re sparkly. AWESOME.
It was a great outfit for a long, long day. My friend Meg was in town from Pennsylvania, so we went out for breakfast before I took her to the airport. And then it was my first day back at school after fall break, so my kids did NOT want to do anything and I didn’t really push it. They have a paper due tomorrow for me, and only one of them turned it in! Silly children. And then I had three-hour Narnia rehearsal, where I still had four main actors missing. And then I had Emanate. So long day, but really good!

I just really loved this outfit today. I felt lovely and feminine and graceful and charming…all things that I never dreamed of feeling just a few months ago. I think this dress is magical. And pairing it with a long-wanted lace top and dainty little T-straps was just sort of the icing on the fancy cake, I suppose.
This was a really, really long day. I wrestled with my library, I taught my theatre arts kiddos (last day before fall break, so no one wanted to do anything!), directed Narnia rehearsal and prepared for tomorrow’s ridiculous Saturday rehearsal, went to see a best friend’s performance (one of her last before she moves back home to Texas!), and then went downtown for drinks at the Flying Saucer with Erin and her beau. So a long day, but I felt adorable all day- and thankfully wore flats!

It warmed up a lot more than I expected it to, so I shed the sweater pretty quickly. Later, one of my students said “Aw, Mrs. T, if you had a cardigan, you’d look just like Rachel Berry.”
I put the sweater back on. And my students thought I was adorable.
But yeah. Super cute fall outfit, right? Yeah, it was nearly 90 degrees. I DID NOT AGREE TO THIS, NASHVILLE. I DID NOT.
Also, I wore my Kurt necklace because I love Glee and I love Kurt and Kurt and Blaine broke up. BUT I REFUSE TO BELIEVE IT. But now I have to wait a month for a new episode…

I love knee socks. Always have, always will. It brings back happy memories of high school, wearing my plaid uniform skirt and my beloved knee-highs. Of course, wearing them as a young adult…not quite the same, but still. I love them. And with the weird weather, it’s a nice compromise between tights (too warm for that!) and bare legs (too cold!).
This was a pretty chill day-nothing really exciting happening. Mostly everyone is just ecstatic about fall break next week. It’s seriously all I can think about….

Does anyone else think of the Friends episode when they hear Elton John’s “Hold Me Closer, Tiny Dancer”? Because…because that’s what I think.
This is probably not a very classy outfit, but it was warm and comfortable for a rainy day. I felt like a small and slightly dumpy ballerina. Originally this dress was a bubble hem, but it looked awful, so I took it out. and now it looks…slightly less awful? I think? I don’t know. It’s just comfy and ballerina-looking.
You saw a hispter’s penis? I am confused. I feel like this comes with a hilarious story and you need to share, please:)
So I was driving around in a downtown-ish neighborhood area, and going slowly because it was a very narrow street with a lot of cars parked on the side.
And as I drove past a house, there was a blond hipster man clad only in a green button up shirt. No pants. No underwear. Just his twinkletube hanging out for all to see.
He saw my car inching past and hesitated, trying to hide, and then he just walked out and flicked me off.
And I was like “pardon me, sir, don’t look at me like that, you’re the one displaying your man bits.”
